Statewide, nursery stock dealers and producers paid approximately $196 million in property, sales, employee, and income taxes in 1996. Total taxes paid in 1996 were 46% higher than comparable figures for 1992 and 76% higher than 1988 payments. In 1996, the industry paid an estimated $11.7 million in property taxes, $59.3 million in sales taxes, $75.4 million in employee taxes, and $49.8 million in income taxes.
