Within the Avocational Activities

• Gardening - #1 Hobby in the US
• 75 million US households (80%) participate in some kind of gardening activity (based on a 1990 survey by the National Gardening Association)
• Lawn and garden retail sales in 1990 = $20.8 billion (obviously an important economic activity)
