Soil Nutrients

• Depend on the mineral composition of soil-forming rock and the weathering process (e.g. glaciation)

• Soils can vary greatly in chemical composition

• Nutrients exist in soil:

  1. Absorbed as cations (+) on the surface of colloids
  
  2. Dissolved salts in soil solution (water)
