Factors that influence soil pH

• Rainfall (roughly: more rainfall, more acidic)

• drainage

• nature of the parent material (limestone more alkaline)

• quality of irrigation

• type and frequency of fertilizer application

• length of time soil has been managed (acidification increases with management)
