Feathertop Fountain Grass, an annual grass in climates colder than zone 9, is loose and willowy, making it an excellent companion to more erect species of perennials and grasses. Its white foxtail plumes slightly resemble the much larger and stiffly upright inflorescences of Pampas Grass.
