Learning Goals

(Note: Irish Greens was first offered as a prototype online course offered by the Ohio State University Alumni Society during October, 2000.) The purpose of this course is to provide alumni with an opportunity to learn about the history and culture of Ireland through a brief presentation of Ireland's famous golf courses and gardens.

Along the road, you will be increasing your exposure and understanding of electronic communications, browsing the Internet, and using a computer.

Finally, taking this course will provide you an opportunity to simply take some time off and explore the many interesting ways that the Internet is facilitating access to information and education opportunities in ways that have never been physically or financially possible in the past.

Assignments

There will be three assisnments for this course. After reading the information on Irish golf and gardens, you are asked to share your opinions with the rest of the class through the golf and gardens forums. After reading all of the information, you are asked to test your new knowledge. Correct and incorrect answers will be identified but you can take the quiz as many times as you want.

Course Development

The information presented in this course was researched and developed by Jim Hoskins, Systems Specialist in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science (e-mail address: Hoskins.2@osu.edu) and Bud Witney, Extension Associate, Department of Horticulture and Crop Sciece (e-mail address: Witney.1@osu.edu).

Without their tremendous efforts in identifying and synthesizing the numerous books, publications, websites, and family photos that went into the creation of this course, none of this would be possible.

Instructor

Professor Tim Rhodus, Department of Horticulture and Crop Science (e-mail address: Rhodus.1@osu.edu) served as on-line instructor during the initial course offering in 2000. Contact Dr. Rhodus with any questions or comments you have about the Irish Greens course.
