Different kinds of roots |
|
| Examples of taproot-system plants are nut trees, carrots, radishes, parsnips, and dandelions. Examples of fibrous-root plants are most grasses, marigolds, and beans. Taproots make TRANSPLANTING difficult. The kind of roots that plants develop can be influenced in the nursery. For example an oak that would normally form a taproot can be encouraged to form a fibrous root system in a container. |
