"Perhaps the most unique characteristic of Grizedale Forest is the artwork incorporated into stands of trees. Various artists in residence have installed sculptures among the vegetation and along the trails. Each sculpture uses elemants of nature (either in material or concept). The sculptures can easily be found by referencing a guide map available at the souvenier shop. For more adventurous types, hiking without consulting a map allows for discovery of artwork while hiking. At the end of a day in Grizedale, a cafe offers an assortment of food and drink. The most popular food service, however, was the walk-up ice cream window located next to the cafe. Grizedale Forest is open year round for visits. more information about Grizedale can be found at www.grizedale.org." Nate Rogers As can be seen from these images, the artwork is fun; this jocular atmosphere influenced Troy (below left) who is being 'attacked' by the alien 'residents' of the forest!
