The three groups presented their designs to a group of staff. We had a hard time selecting one to implement. Finally we agreed on Group 1's design. After the presentations almost everyone scattered for weekend trips, leaving Darren and Steve to begin work on clearing the site. They soon had a big stack of whole and broken pavers.

They got some extra help after the weekend, as we began to dig into the existing sub-base. This was hard physical work although we had some mechanized assistance:

Everyone had a chance to show what they were made of and we began to wonder whether we would ever be through. Perhaps we had taken on too much. The Landscape Staff were there to help but it was down to the students to get organized, order materials as needed and schedule each aspect of the job. Allocating jobs so that people worked effectively and in an organized fashion was almost as difficult as the work itself.
